“The Double Bass” is a brilliant, manic, absurd, theatrical text. Maurizio Micheli is in the guise of a mediocre double bass player hampered by his shyness to declare his love to Sarah, sweet mezzo-soprano. With “The Double Bass” you laugh, but it is a laughter that leaves the bitter aftertaste, that drives us to meditate on the fate of modern man, lost in a world overcrowded, unable to cry out the pain that consumes him.
